I’m almost a day late on Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, but I’m damn sure more than a dollar short....we’re $23,653 short, to be exact! And imagine this, my partner is also a woman, so double that amount!! Black women make up the largest group of minority women-owned businesses, and we’re a key voting bloc with one of the biggest voter turnouts — when you lift up black women, you lift up entire communities. We are phenomenal, and we all deserve equal pay! This @phenomenal tee benefits the Black Futures Lab.

This is Dr. Sheeva Talebian (@stalebian) from @ccrmfertility and she really affirmed me in ways that I didn’t even know I needed a few days ago. I’ve been told by some of those fancy millennial fertility clinics that I would be considered a “geriatric” pregnancy and needed to freeze my eggs NOW (complete with a pricing plan being shoved in my face at my appointment) and Sheeva told me that that term is literally not a thing. At 37, my fears around not being able to have a baby have been weighing on me heavily, but I got some real light from their team! • Also, @ccrmfertility is a queer/trans affirming Center that is equipped and ready to take care of families that need to use a center to conceive. So often we think of infertility/ reproductive health only as it pertains to straight couples, so knowing that there is a place that understands my family planning needs is life changing. Literally. • I know a lot of you had questions, after seeing my stories, so hit the comments and Dr. Sheeva and @ccrmfertility are gonna be answering all of these questions for you!!

Told y’all June was about to be super duper gay! Super proud to be amongst this group of my queer fam to celebrate @abercrombie and @trevorproject #faceyourfierce Pride Campaign! Trevor Project provides crisis prevention for young queer folks and y’all know how important these services are to our people! Also, given how much I’ve discussed my own mental health journey, It was an honor to donate my time to this project - we all took part because we understand how important the work undertaken by Trevor is, not because we were paid to do so. Also, I want to tag my best friend, Sharrica, @docmilller, who has been living her fierce since the day I met her almost 20 years ago!!!!

@hbo gave me the opportunity to advance screen Jerrod Carmichael’s new docuseries “Home Videos” ahead of its release tomorrow night. The themes of listening to Black Women, supporting black Women and loving black women got me thinking about my Mom who is going to be the first of her 9 siblings to graduate college, this time next week. It got me thinking about how selfish I can be because typically I center myself on Mother’s Day, in celebrating all of the ways she was a good Mom to me, instead of actually celebrating her in all of her “her-ness.” So today, I don’t celebrate my Mama, today I Celebrate Lydia Delores of the House Anderson, first of her name, keeper of secrets, taker of zero shit, feeder of all who pass her threshold and a downright bad ass black woman. Not to worry @loveandteaching I’ll have a real sweet Mother’s day post coming at you tomorrow, but today, it’s all about you, minus the kids. #hbopartner #ad
